Understanding Intrusive Thoughts and Finding Relief

What OCD really is

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often misunderstood, leaving many individuals feeling stuck, ashamed, or misrepresented in their experiences.

In reality, OCD is not simply about being neat or particular—it involves intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors that can feel overwhelming and difficult to control.

Evidenced-based approaches

Effective OCD treatment is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with a strong emphasis on psychoeducation and progressive exposure techniques, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), an evidence-based treatment for OCD.

This approach helps individuals understand how OCD operates, including how specific triggers and fear responses may have developed over time. By gaining insight into these patterns, it becomes easier to respond differently.

Building Tolerance and Confidence

Through gradual, structured exposure, treatment focuses on reducing fear around intrusive thoughts and building tolerance to discomfort in a safe, manageable way.

This process helps individuals build confidence, increase their sense of control, and learn that they are not defined or limited by their diagnosis.

Amanda works with individuals struggling with intrusive thoughts, overthinking, OCD, and anxiety. She is trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and helps clients feel supported, understood, and more in control of their daily lives.
